Beverages to Consider

Beverages are substances created by plants or animals that contain calories. Beverages are consumed to satisfy one’s thirst or to quench one’s hunger. Other than water and beverages made from fruits and vegetables, other drinks are usually sweetened with sugar or milk. These drinks are known to be present in different forms such as tea, coffee, soda, energy drinks, fruit cordial and health drinks. A beverage is typically a liquid prepared for human consumption intended for consumption at a specific time. Other than its basic purpose of satisfying thirst, beverages also play significant roles in human nutrition.

Common examples of beverages include plain boiled water, milk, tea, coffee, soda, energy drinks, fruit cordial and so on. Some beverages are combined with meals or snacks to provide additional energy. Beverages are available in various forms. For example, hot drinks and cold drinks can be refrigerated or stored in special ice packs. The shelf life of some beverages such as tea, soda and energy drinks vary according to the brand, quality and type.

One of the most popular and widely consumed beverages in the world is cider vinegar. This apple-cider vinegar is used in many traditional and non-traditional beverages such as pickles, ketchup, mustard, soup, and salad dressings. Cider vinegar is derived from the fermented apples of the Malbec tree, native to Central and South America. The sweet taste of this apple-cider vinegar dates back to centuries ago. The earliest reference to the benefits of this beverage was found in the Arabic works that suggest apple cider can cure several ailments such as fever, stomachache, diarrhea and vomiting.

Alcohol is one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world. Although alcoholic beverages cause deaths over time, these beverages are considered safe when taken moderately. Most beverages contain alcohol, although there are low-alcohol beverages as well. However, it is advisable to avoid all types of alcohol especially when taking stimulants such as coffee, tea and energy drinks because they can increase your blood pressure. Also, it is not good to combine alcoholic beverages with caffeinated drinks because the caffeine content of most drinks contain diuretics, which can dehydrate you.

Wine comes in different varieties such as red, white, table and dry. Each variety has its own set of distinctive characteristics such as sweet, alcoholic, crisp and flabby. Red wine is considered the best beverage to enjoy during parties and romantic occasions such as Valentine’s Day. You will find red wines sold in most gift shops while white wine is usually found in restaurants. Dry wines are not fermented; rather, they undergo a process called decanting to achieve a smoother, drier taste.

Many people enjoy coffee as a beverage. You have two options to drink coffee – black and decaffeinated. Each type of coffee has its own advantages and disadvantages. Decaf coffee is made by applying cream to the beans which helps to suppress the coffee’s natural aroma and flavor. You can enjoy this beverage, even though you need to wake up in the morning after consuming it because it is decaffeinated. If you want a stronger cup of coffee, you can always opt for espresso or cafe coffee.
